A digital publication we do not plan to define as “book” or “digital book”. As is Step Out from Macau, a group of people who loves performance art, and does not plan to limit themselves to a “theatre company” or “dance company”.
Summer 2011, Step Out set off from the island of Macau, and landed at another little island 800 km away, known as Taiwan. Macau is an island shadowed by casinos and high-risers, which cannot overshadow the creativity and thoughts of artists. Hualien in Taiwan, on the other hand, is barricaded by ranges of mountain, which cannot block the passion and hopes of educators.
Inside classrooms in a mountain town, with stories, body languages, scenarios and QA interactions, Step Out brings more than just entertainment to kids but their first taste of theatre art. “This is more than an experimental theatre inside the classroom, but a real life experiment blending performance and traveling,” says Step Out.
A digital publication as experiment, the experiment of “the medium is the message”. With texts and images interacting digitally, we share with readers our thoughts, journey and feelings. Join us in the small but extraordinary revolution of the digital publishing era, coming from the unexpected tiny bookstore in the mountains.
